This as well as animation. The stigma is always this; comedies are low-brow and animation is for 6 year olds. When was the last time a comedy show won Best Picture?
this was a great article, david, and i don’t think a better film released (so far)this year could be used in defense of oscar-worthy comedies. i was lucky enough to make a screening the other week, and it was really amazing to see something so funny with some real emotional weight behind it. the final third of the film played with the perfect amount of sincerity, and it was so obvious that the entire audience was completely invested in your characters and their story.
in a perfect world, you would be nominated for best director…
