Thoughts on the Race

I am getting so riled up about this Presidential race, I figured I might dilute my anxiety by writing about it when I can’t take it anymore.

This election season has been the biggest, most ridiculous soap opera I have ever seen. The cast of characters, drama and the tension would put General Hospital to shame. I just hope to God it has a happy ending otherwise I will have to up my meds and migrate to Canada.

There have been a few things that have struck me in the past couple of weeks. The first thing is, every time I hear any critic of McCain/Palin being labeled as “elitist,” it makes my blood boil. The definition of elite is: “representing the most choice or select; best.” Is this a terrible thing in a President? Do we want ordinary instead? I guess a majority do, since they elected a distinctly mediocre guy for the last eight years (although he turned out to be exceptionally terrible, so you can’t always get what you want). I hate how intelligence has been restructured by the Right as something sinister. Disgusting Rudy Giuliani really jizzed on himself playing this up at the RNC (“I’m sorry we’re not so-PHITH-ticated enough for you!”). Intelligence is something to be prized, not to be suspicious of. Dummies. I think “elite” when it applies to Barack Obama may be code for “foreign,” as in “we are not comfortable with this black man.” I may be overly-sensitive, but I don’t think so in this case.

The second is what a HUGE cultural divide there is in this country. I looked at the faces of the delegates and listened to their speakers at the RNC and I am completely bewildered by them. When I hear people chanting “drill, baby, drill,” I have no idea where they are coming from. To me, their positions seem antithetical to common sense, and conversely, I’m sure they would feel the same way about me (except I am right, of course). It is so frustrating and depressing. Is there no way to bridge this?

Third thing: now they are accusing Brarack of making a sexist comment when he said the Republicans were putting “lipstick on a pig” calling themselves change agents when it is really more of the same. Are you kidding me?! WTF?! When is Barack going to SLAM them for their ridiculous tactics? Now every criticism of their horrible, scary pick for Vice President is going to be labeled SEXIST?! This from a Party that wants to turn back the clock of Women’s Rights to the early ’60′s?! Has the world gone topsy-turvy? I feel like Obama is Batman fighting the Joker. It is not a fair fight. One insists on playing by the rules and will not kill his opponent. The other is a complete sociopath and will stop at nothing to win and annihilate his victims ( I speak of the Republican Opreratives, not McCain, who I think is completely divided in his heart about this whole thing). I am sick of this. Barack! Go after these turd-blossoms with a vengeance! You know Karl Rove is behind all this and he will not play fair. He has no heart. You have to engage and fight with these horrible people mano a mano. Do nothing illegal, but you really have to stop being so nice and decent. THESE OPERATIVES HAVE NO DECENCY!!! Fight with all your might to counteract this sleaze machine. Don’t let them say you are sexist! Don’t let them say that you were teaching kindergarteners sex ed when you were trying to warn them about how to avoid sexual predators! Don’t have your campaign issue press statements! YOU go out on your OWN and let them know how ANGRY you are! Show some PASSION and FIGHT and let everyone know that these disgusting tactics are just a smokescreen for a campaign that is BEREFT of ideas. They just want power, but they have no idea what to do with it. Let people know that it’s not about winning, it’s about governing for the people, something McCain/Palin has NO IDEA how to do! FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, my friend!!! You are too good for this bullshit!!

I can’t even write about Palin, I am so angry right now. Maybe later.

ARGHHHHHHHH!!!! ENOUGH!!!! Maybe the Super Collider should create a black hole. Maybe we should start from scratch again and do a better job. I’m only slightly being facetious.
